The tradition of black and white photography extends back to the time when the materials dictated the possibilities. But in the era of color and digital techniques, the possibilities for black and white have never been better. With the intuitive editing found in Lightroom, the options for converting color into the beautiful tones of black and white offer fine control and expressive possibilities. And the mechanics are quite logical and easy to follow.
Our class will cover:
- Thinking about light and tone at the time of capture
- The role of color in black and white
- Using black and white profiles
- Adjusting tone through color
- Adjusting global tone and contrast in Lightroom with the Basic panel
- Selective adjustments for tonal control and visual emphasis
- Toning images – warm and cool tones
We will work in Lightroom Classic on your computers at home. Screen sharing will allow everyone to see each others screens we make our conversions.
